Nitte University Supports Frontline Forest Staff: A Commitment to Conservation

Jul 7, 2025

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University) based at its Bengaluru campus, has extended critical support to forest frontline staff in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Adavi Alert Foundation. As part of the ongoing Gaja - Elephant Conservation Project, NMIT sponsored specially sourced tactical jackets for those who face human-elephant conflict on a daily basis.

These are the unsung heroes who navigate challenging terrains and unpredictable conditions to safeguard both human settlements and wildlife. Recognising the need for reliable gear in such environments, the team sourced jackets from suppliers catering to the Indian Army and Navy, ensuring durability and comfort for year-round use. The initiative has earned praise from the Field Director of the reserve, who commended the quality and purposefulness of the contribution.

At Nitte, we believe that protecting wildlife also means supporting those who protect it. This initiative is a reflection of our values, where education meets empathy, and progress is aligned with sustainability.

As the Adavi Alert Foundation continues its vital conservation efforts through fieldwork, technology and community engagement, NMIT is proud to be a part of this mission. We extend our gratitude to Pavan Joshi of Adavi Alert Foundation for his leadership, which has helped make this collaboration a meaningful and impactful partnership.
