The undergraduate program Computer Science and Business Systems at NMIT Bengaluru forms a comprehensive, industry-ready curriculum, comprising a blend of computer science and business systems, tailored by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The course has been designed with inputs from global industry experts as well as leading academicians in tune with the current requirements of the industry.

This primarily focuses on enhancing the key graduate outcomes in understanding contemporary technology and abstraction, knowledge of common business principles and service orientation, innovation ability, ethics and life values. The course is handled by NMIT faculty who have enriched their expertise through the Train the Trainer program by TCS. Also, there will be periodic visits by TCS experts to deliver lecture sessions on emerging technologies. The students graduating from this program will be proactive and possess relevant technical and business knowledge, updated skill sets and a positive attitude to meet the emerging demands of leading industries.

  • PEO 1: To equip the students with sufficient knowledge and technical and managerial competencies in the domains of Computer Science and Business Systems to survive in the industry.

  • PO1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  • PO3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety and cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
  • PO4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5. Modern tool usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
  • PO7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.

A graduate of the Computer Science and Business Systems program will demonstrate:

  • Mr. Yash Dalal, Assistant Professor, Department of CSBS, served as the Resource Person for the “Power Lytics Workshop” organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, on 16th September 2025. He delivered an interactive session on data-driven insights, engaging participants through practical discussions that fostered analytical thinking and enhanced their understanding of data analytics concepts.
  • Mr. Yash Dalal, Assistant Professor, Department of CSBS, served as the Resource Person for a technical talk at REVA University, Bengaluru, on 9th April 2025. He delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “The Creative Revolution: Harnessing Generative AI to Shape the Future,” covering recent advancements in Generative AI, key challenges, and innovative applications. The session was well appreciated for its clarity, depth, and practical insights, inspiring and motivating students.

  • 3rd semester students of Department of CSBS, Vrinda Baral, Pranathi H L and Atharva Singh Bisht along with Darren Fernandes from Department of ECE, secured 2nd place in “Solution Sprint “a rapid-innovation challenge on 6th November 2025, hosted by Sir MVIT, Bangalore.
  • 5th semester students of Department of CSBS Toshith N, and Likith Annappa Naik, secured 4th position out of nearly 300 participating teams from across the country at Infotsav Hackathon 2025 organized by IITM Gwalior, 12th October 2025.

  • The Department of CSBS actively promotes industry–academia collaboration to ensure curriculum relevance and industry readiness of graduates. The department currently maintains an active Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
  • In addition, the institution has an MoU with Infosys, which supports broader industry engagement initiatives. The department is guided by an Industry–Academia Committee comprising experts from leading organizations such as HP, Tech Mahindra, GaME, ITC Infotech, Inofty Software Pvt. Ltd., Rafay Systems Pvt. Ltd., and Philips Healthcare. These experts contribute to curriculum enrichment, academic planning, and industry-aligned skill development.
  • The department is continuously working towards expanding its network of industry partnerships through new MoUs to strengthen internships, applied research, consultancy, and employability-focused initiatives.
