Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC becomes a part of the institution's system and works towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance.As per the UGC guidelines, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is established at NMIT with the Principal; Dr. H C Nagaraj being the Chairman.The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of the institution. It promotes measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.The IQAC ensures that whatever is done in the institution for “education” is done efficiently and effectively.It will not be yet another hierarchical structure or recordkeeping exercise in the institution; it will be a facilitative and participativevoluntary system/unit/organ of the institution. The IQAC has the potential to become a vehicle for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality.

Functions of NMIT –IQAC

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institute.
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner centric environment conductive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge, skill and technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality rested institutional processes.
  • Arrangement for faculty self evaluation, HOD’s observation on quality and performance related issues;
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education ;
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars, conferences on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
  • Organization of orientation, refresher, thematic, short term , long term programs to promote quality academic and non academic staff development;
  • Organization of one day seminar on ethics, integrity and values for staff and students;
  • Documentation of various professional activities leading to quality enhancement;
  • Be nodal agency of the institution for coordinating quality related activities including adoption, adaption and dissemination of best practices;
  • Developing and maintenance of institutional Data base through MIS for the purpose of maintaining/ enhancing the institutional quality;
  • Development of quality culture in the institution;
  • Organizing programs on policy issues, soft skill development etc for the students , teachers & non academic staff of the institution;
  • Organizing discussions/lectures on new developments, policy changes/ guidelines etc at the center, State governments/MHRD, UGC, AICTE, VTU and other regulatory bodies;
  • Preparation of the Annual quality Assurance report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC to be submitted to NAAC.
