The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in engineering education plays a vital role in moulding future engineers into thoughtful leaders and global citizens in terms of environmental humanities.
The department offers a diverse range of courses, including Professional Communication, Kannada Language, Communicative English, Life Skills, Universal Human Values (UHV) and Professionalism, Constitution of India and Global Citizenship, and Indian knowledge Systems (IKS) among others.
Apart from the academic pursuits the department contributes to foster the holistic growth of the students through a combination of academic instruction and skill enhancement activities.
Additionally, special classes/Bridge courses in Communicative English and Balake Kannada are offered to the students in developing basic language proficiency and helping them adapt smoothly to multi-cultural and multilingual environment of the campus.
The English Language Lab offers language enhancement software aiding in the enhancement of LSRW skills that enhances improvement in pronunciation, vocabulary and interpersonal skills of the learners through a variety of activities, realistic conversations, and role-playing exercises. This practical approach enables students not only to improve their communication skills but also develop a deeper comprehension of the English language for employability.
The faculty members engage in teaching-learning activities, research publications and conducting workshops for students to build social skills and broaden critical and creative competencies.
