In order to provide its students niche skills and opportunities in frontier areas of engineering and technology, the Department of EEE, NMIT started Power Engineering Centre of Excellence on 4 th September 2019. The concept of this COE was introduced with the idea of converging power electronics, power systems and power system protection leading towards Electro-Mobility which is a much-needed skill of the society. As more than 200 companies are recently started the manufacturing of electric vehicles and providing the charging facilities throughout the country as part of green technology revolution, this will create more premium jobs in core companies like Telco, Titan Engineering automation solutions, ABB, Siemens, etc., to a name a few. Tools like EPLAN, ETAP and Mi-Power will prepare the students with efficient engineering practices much needed in emerging areas like industry 4.0, Industrial Automation, Assembly line automation, Machine building, predictive maintenance, etc. Thus, this centre aims to skill the students with much needed emerging technologies and engineering solutions of the current and future industry. It will prepare them to aspire for premium opportunities in core engineering and technological areas.
Objectives:
Facilities Available:
The centre has 30 computers in the lab with the power backup. It has many software and hardware facilities such as 15 user license of EPLAN, 5 user license of ETAP, 5 user licenses of Mi-Power, PSCAD, ARM University Program, Cypress University Program, FPGA kits, FPAA kits, Analog Discovery kits, Power System Protection kits, DSP kits, Microcontroller kits, etc.
