BTech in artificial intelligence and machine learning

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML)at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology was started in the year 2021, with an intake of 60 students. The department serves as a dynamic hub for academic excellence and cutting-edge research in the field. Rooted in a foundation of academic rigor, innovation, and industry relevance, we strive to empower students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving field of AI and ML. Our faculty members are accomplished experts with diverse backgrounds in AI and ML. They bring industry experience and academic research to the classroom, creating a stimulating learning environment. The department is dedicated to nurturing the intellectual curiosity of students and guiding them through a research culture that contributes to the expanding body of knowledge in AI and ML.

  • PO1. Engineering knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)
  • PO3. Design/development of solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)
  • PO4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).
  • PO5. Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)
  • PO6. The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7).

  • Goonj, the Drama Club of AIML, uses the power of theatre to promote social awareness through impactful street plays on women’s safety, cyber safety and various social issues. The club has represented NMIT at prestigious institutions such as BITS Pilani, IIT Bombay, BMSCE, MSRIT, Christ, REVA and Presidency University, winning multiple awards in intercollegiate competitions. Through theatre, Goonj continues to inspire awareness and encourage positive social change.
  • Final Year Student Pratyaksh S S has secuured Solar Electric Vehicle Championship (SEVC) 2025 and won 6 Prizes at National-Level Competition.
  • Second Year Student Pratyaksh S S participated in the National Level event “SOLAR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHAMPIONSHIP (SEVC)” and won 6 Prizes on 14th March 2025.

  • Project Entitled “Automatic Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease from Spontaneous Speech using Multi-Modal AI/ML Techniques” under the Guidance of Dr. Subhrajith Bhattacharya Secured Third Prize at the department level.
