About the Program
The Bachelor in Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology (BMRIT) is a comprehensive undergraduate program aimed at developing skilled imaging technologists equipped with clinical expertise and technical proficiency. The curriculum integrates strong foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and pathology with hands-on training in advanced imaging techniques, including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Fluoroscopy.
Students are trained to operate sophisticated imaging equipment, adhere to patient safety protocols, and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in diagnostic centers, hospitals, and research or can pursue higher education in medical imaging or allied health sciences.
About the Institution
Nitte Institute of Allied Health Sciences (NIAHS), established in 2025, is a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, and situated in the Medical Sciences Complex at Deralakatte, Mangaluru.
Infrastructure & Clinical Training
The Department of Medical Imaging at NIAHS offers a technologically advanced learning environment with access to:
- High-end CT scanners (16 & 128-slice)
- 1.5T MRI systems
- Digital Radiography and Fluoroscopy units
- Ultrasound and Doppler Imaging
- Nuclear Medicine
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
- 3D reconstruction and post-processing workstations
Training is further enriched through clinical postings at Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, offering exposure to a wide spectrum of clinical cases and real-time imaging protocols.
Eligibility
Pass in Class 12 with not less than 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Biology with English as one of the languages of study. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Candidates who have passed Diploma in Radiography / Imaging Technology awarded by the State Board or an equivalent, are eligible for direct admission to II year under Lateral Entry scheme.

Admission to Bachelor in Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology is based on merit in the qualifying examination.

Commencement of Program
The program commences on the date prescribed by the University, generally in August.
