About the Program

The Bachelor of Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology (B.AOTT) is a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to prepare competent healthcare professionals who play a vital role in perioperative patient care and the effective management of operation theatre services. The program integrates theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical training, enabling students to support anaesthesiologists and surgical teams in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Students are trained in the planning, preparation, operation, maintenance, and management of operation theatre facilities while gaining expertise in handling advanced anaesthesia equipment, surgical instruments, patient monitoring systems, and life-support devices. The curriculum emphasizes infection control, patient safety, ethical practice, emergency preparedness, and adherence to national and international healthcare standards.

The program also equips students with the knowledge and practical skills required to actively participate in emergency and critical care services, including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), code blue responses, trauma management, and multidisciplinary rescue teams. In addition to operation theatres, students gain exposure to specialized healthcare settings such as Intensive Care Units (ICUs), endoscopy suites, radiology suites, cardiac catheterization laboratories, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) centres, dialysis units, emergency and casualty departments, and other critical care areas.

A key strength of the program is its strong clinical orientation. Students undergo structured clinical postings and internships across various specialties and super-specialty departments under the guidance of experienced faculty and healthcare professionals. This hands-on training enhances their technical competence, clinical decision-making, communication skills, and professional confidence.

The program also lays a strong academic foundation for graduates who aspire to pursue higher education in Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology. Upon completion, graduates are well-equipped to contribute effectively to modern healthcare systems and meet the growing demand for skilled allied health professionals in hospitals, specialty centres, and academic institutions.
