The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched in 2015 by Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, to rank higher educational institutions in the country based on objective criteria to promote competitive excellence in the higher educational institutions.
QS Rankings are based on eight indicators included to reflect priorities and challenges that are more specific to universities in the region i.e Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Faculty/student ratio, Staff with a PhD, Papers per faculty, citations per paper, International faculty and International students. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), founded in 1990 is a leading provider of specialist higher education and careers information and solutions. Its University rankings are recognized and followed globally by students and the higher education community.
QS I-GAUGE rating is administered by a joint venture of QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. of the United Kingdom and India’s ERA Foundation. QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. is a reputed body that organizes one of the most influential international University ranking systems. QS I-GAUGE rating uses an evidence driven, transparent and holistic methodology of international standards to assess institutions in six primary criteria and two secondary criteria. Institutions are rated on one of the five levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Diamond+. The Diamond rating recognizes Nitte University’s achievements in areas like teaching-learning, faculty quality, facilities, student diversity, student outcomes, research, entrepreneurship and social responsibility.

Nitte (Deemed to be University) has been awarded “E-LEAD: E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitization” by QS I-GAUGE. This is in recognition of the University’s technological capabilities in support of online learning. QS-The global rankings and ratings agency through its Indian arm, QS I-GAUGE has created a methodology based on global best practices to evaluate the readiness of Educational Institutions for adopting online teaching-learning. The methodology involved an audit process of validated data and quality check of facilities and services available for online learning. Nitte University is one among the first twelve institutions in the country to receive this prestigious certification. The certificate was awarded in an online event held on 14-05-2020. The Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt of India, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, participated in this event. The University which had taken a proactive approach to develop E-Learning capacity was able to scale up its online reach during the recent lockdown period. Student learning is being successfully supported through delivery of e-Learning modules for self-study as well as live online classes.
