Antenatal Care and Education

Understanding the critical role of nutrition in maternal and fetal health, the staff highlights the significance of incorporating locally available sources of protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins into their diets. Using a combination of instructional modules and videos, they effectively communicate the benefits of these nutrients and how to include them in daily meals.

Expectant mothers receive detailed instruction on various breastfeeding techniques, preparing them for successful breastfeeding postpartum. They are also taught breathing exercises designed to provide comfort during labor, which can help manage pain and reduce stress. Additionally, comprehensive education on new-born care ensures that mothers feel confident and well-prepared for the arrival of their babies.

For those identified as anaemic, Maathr Kshema offers specialized guidance on the regular consumption of iron and folic acid supplements. Mothers learn about locally available iron-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and other dietary sources. The staff also advises them on the benefits of consuming calcium rich dietary sources, which aid in the absorption of iron, thereby helping to combat anaemia more effectively.
