Palaksha K Shetty, with his Bachelor of Architecture from Academy of Architecture, Mumbai and Masters in Architectural Design from CEPT, Ahmedabad finds himself amidst Architecture and Design innovation. His earlier work experience in Mumbai with a renowned Architectural firm is on large scale master planning, landscape projects of Airports, public spaces, and hospitality projects. Kinetic architecture, the process of design and build has always been an area of his research interest. He is a co-Founder of Studio Subtle which is an architectural practice based in Mangalore. The studio immerses in a diverse range of work, from large scale academic research, a variety of architecture projects, furniture design, and simultaneously in the process, realise inventive solutions that turn the very limitations of each project into the design trajectory, investigating opportunistic overlaps between form, space, time, culture, and materiality.

Paul holds a Master's degree in History, Theory & Criticism, and Urban Design from the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Anna University, Chennai.
Paul has 15 years of experience in both professional and academic practice, with 12 years dedicated to teaching and research.
Paul's areas of interest include architectural history, theory, and criticism, with a focus on the intersections of architecture, urbanism, and queer studies. He is particularly interested in heritage conservation, the role of architecture in shaping urban landscapes, and the pedagogical approaches to architecture education. His work also explores architectural historiography and cultural analysis, contributing to a deeper understanding of how architecture interacts with social and historical contexts.
Paul heads the Teaching Learning Process and Evaluation (TLPE) team and is in charge of the Examination Cell. He also serves as the NAAC criterion coordinator and is a member of the Board of Studies in Architecture. Additionally, Paul coordinates the development of syllabi and course content, ensuring that the curriculum remains dynamic and meets academic standards. He is a member of the Thesis/Capstone Committee and serves on the Dissertation Panel.

Arul Paul is an architect and educator, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Nitte Institute of Architecture in Mangalore. His research explores the intersections of architecture, urbanism, history, and queer studies. Paul holds a Master of Architecture in History, Theory, Criticism, and Urban Design from CEPT, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Anna University, Chennai. Through the lens of history and theory, he critically examines the evolution of pedagogy in response to emerging challenges and innovations, contributing to academia, research, writing, and practice. His publications include Lucknow Unrestrained: Palimpsest of Incongruous Possibilities (Sage) and Queering Academia (Avani), and his exhibition Lucknow Unrestrained was showcased at the Srishti School of Art and Design in 2019.
Paul co-presented "Queering Colonial Archives-Queer Architecture of Nawabi Lucknow" at the Society of Architectural Historians conference in 2021. Committed to social justice and equality, he actively champions these values for all, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.rnPaul's latest book, A Queer Reading of Nawabi Architecture and the Colonial Archive: Lucknow Queerscapes (Routledge, 2024), co-authored with Sonal Mithal, critically explores the architecture of Lucknow through a queer lens. The book challenges traditional readings of Nawabi architecture, reinterpreting the colonial archive to reveal the queer dimensions embedded in Lucknow's built environment. It has been widely appreciated for its unique perspective on architectural history, cultural memory, and gender studies, marking a significant contribution to queer theory in architecture.
