He is an architect with a B.Arch and M.Arch in Environmental Design, specializing in sustainable architecture and building simulations, with a passion for creating energy-efficient, environmentally conscious designs that harmonize with their surroundings. With a strong foundation in environmental principles and advanced simulation techniques, he strives to push the boundaries of sustainable design, complemented by research exploring the intersections of architecture, technology, and sustainability. He also has a strong interest in entrepreneurship and business, runs his own registered startup, and is particularly interested in Building Automation and IoT, aiming to integrate these into smarter, more responsive built environments for a sustainable future.
Nishith Urval is an Assistant Professor (Grade II) at the NITTE Institute of Architecture (NIA), Mangalore, with over a decade of experience in architectural practice and academia. He completed his B.Arch from Manipal University (2013), receiving the Pedilite Award for Excellence, and his M.Arch from CEPT University (2018), where his thesis on sequential art in architectural design received the National Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Thesis.
He has worked with HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad (2018–2021), contributing to major projects such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, New Parliament Building, and Central Vista Redevelopment, with a focus on design communication and visual storytelling.
His teaching emphasizes process-driven design, drawing, and narrative-based representation, fostering exploratory and iterative approaches to spatial thinking.
