Free dental screening and oral health awareness program:
The Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, ABSMIDS organised a free dental screening and oral health awareness program on 17th June 2023 at Kuvempu Shatamanosthava Madari Hiriya Prathamika School, Nalyapadavu, Shaktinagar, Mangalore to create oral health awareness among the students and evaluate their dental hygiene. A pediatric dental team, led by Prof. Dr. Manju R, HoD and Dr. Ananthu, Lecturer, along with the postgraduates and interns conducted the oral health check-up of high school and upper primary students. Consent forms were given to the students who required invasive procedures to be performed under local anaesthesia. Around 310 students were screened for their oral hygiene status.

A program on ‘Prevention of Sexual Harassment and POCSO Law Awareness’:
A program on ‘Prevention of Sexual Harassment and POCSO Law Awareness’ was held at Dr. NSAM Pre-University College, Mangaluru on 10th August 2023. It featured discussions on preventing sexual abuse and creating awareness of relevant laws. Resource person Dr. Varsha Shetty, Asst. Professor, Forensic Medicine, KS Hegde Medical Academy emphasized that children are vulnerable to various forms of sexual harassment that include inappropriate touches, indecent jokes and abusive behaviour. The POCSO Act is designed to protect children from such abuse and awareness is crucial to prevent it. She broadened the scope of the term ‘misconduct’ highlighting that it encompasses not only physical abuse or violence, but also a range of inappropriate behaviour. These behaviours encompass everything from unwanted physical contact & gestures to offensive humour and attempts to manipulate or intimidate children through negative intentions. The POCSO Act is designed to protect children from such misconduct and awareness is crucial to prevent it. Sub-Inspector Pratibha KH of Kadri Police Station encouraged students to provide information about such incidents to the police and assured them that the law enforcement agencies are dedicated to ensuring the safety of children and will take appropriate action against any wrongdoers.

A program with the theme "Enabling Breastfeeding - Making a Difference for Working Parents”:
The Department of Paediatrics, KSHEMA organized a program with the theme "Enabling Breastfeeding - Making a Difference for Working Parents” on the occasion of the 'World Breastfeeding Week' (1-7 August 2023) at KS Hegde Hospital. The undergraduates and postgraduates actively participated in Street play, Poster competition and a Panel discussion on the challenges faced by working parents in continuing breastfeeding. The program was moderated by Dr Swathi Rao, Assoc. Professor, Paediatrics and the panelists for discussion were Dr. Praveen Nayak, Asst. Professor, Paediatrics, Dr. Samskruthi Shetty, Asst. Professor, OBG, Dr Swathi Acharya, Assoc. Professor, Pharmacology & Ms. Bhavya, In charge nurse, Paediatrics ward.

An awareness campaign on Menstrual Hygiene and Sustainability:
The postgraduates of Nitte Institute of Communication conducted an awareness campaign on Menstrual Hygiene and Sustainability at Government College, Mudipu on 11th July 2023. The event was held in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS). The Guest Speaker for the event was Ms. Anuradha Shetty, Asst. Professor, PG Department of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya - a woman empowerment advocate, passionate social worker and researcher. She began the session by highlighting the changes in the adolescents and the difference between sex and gender. She then explained the menstrual cycle and importance of menstrual hygiene. She also talked about sexual health and menstrual myths and misconceptions. The use of menstrual cups and biodegradable napkins was explained. She spoke at length about how these products are more sustainable than disposable pads and tampons. She also showed a Netflix documentary, PERIOD. The End of Sentence, which tells the story of women in rural India who fight for their right to menstrual hygiene. The program ended with a Q&A session, where she answered questions from students. She was able to clear many misconceptions that the students had about menstruation.

"Menstrual Hygiene and Best Practices":
The Department of Public Health, K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Nitte (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Carmel School and St. Ann’s Pre-University College, Mangalore, organized a series of impactful sessions on menstrual hygiene and best practices. Themed "Blooming with Confidence – Your Path to Care, Comfort, and Choices," this program aimed to empower young girls by providing them with essential knowledge to manage menstrual health effectively and confidently. The primary objective of these sessions was to educate and empower young girls with accurate, stigma-free information about menstrual health, encouraging a positive attitude toward menstrual hygiene.

Autism awareness campaign - autism be aware, be understanding:
The students of Nitte Institute of Communication, in collaboration with the Nitte Special Child Care (N-SPECC), A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, organized a one-day program to observe World Autism Day, on 28th April 2023 at the Institute premises. The event was organized to raise financial aid for families and increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism.

Awareness program on Blood Donation:
On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, 2023, the students of second year MHAHSM conducted an awareness program in the form of a street play at three designated locations around Deralakatte and Thokottu on 12th June 2023. The street play addressed the common myths on blood donation to educate and encourage the people to donate blood.

Awareness Program on Water Conservation and Irrigation Practices:
As a part of Sustainable Development Goals initiatives, Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research in association with the Department of Horticulture, Mangaluru conducted an awareness program on “Water conservation and Irrigation practices” at Horticulture Hall, Mangaluru on 28th December 2023. The program was attended by the farmers from in and around Mangaluru, and students of NUCSER. The Chief Executive Officer of DK Zilla Panchayat, Dr. Anandh K inaugurated the program and commended the organizers for their thoughtful planning in conducting the program. The Dy. Director of Horticulture, DK Zilla Panchayat, Mr H.R. Naik, emphasized the importance of water conservation and drip irrigation in agriculture. The resource person Dr. Bhavishya, Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI explained the necessity of water management and conservation practices in agriculture, emphasizing their impact on nutrient requirements, utilization, and losses. Mr. Praveen K explained the government schemes such as “PerDrop More Crop” available for farmers and delivered the vote of thanks.

Patient safety programme:
Nitte University conducted a Patient Safety Programme in conjunction with National Pharmacovigilance Week, from 17 to 25 September 2023 demonstrating its commitment to enhancing healthcare quality and patient safety. This outreach initiative aimed to increase awareness about the importance of pharmacovigilance—the monitoring, detection, and prevention of adverse effects related to medication use. Through educational sessions and interactive discussions, healthcare professionals, students, and the local community were encouraged to recognize and report adverse drug reactions, fostering a culture of safety and accountability. This initiative reflects Nitte University’s dedication to improving healthcare practices, protecting patients, and promoting safer therapeutic outcomes in line with national health priorities.

Awareness program on World Suicide Prevention Day:
The Department of Community Medicine, KSHEMA organized a program with the theme 'Creating hope through action' on 7th September 2023 at the Epidemiological unit, KS Hegde Hospital on the occasion of the 'World Suicide Prevention Day' under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Hegde, Assoc. Professor, Community Medicine and Mr Ravi, Medical Social Worker. The program focussed on raising awareness on 'suicide' - the warning signs, triggers, prevention & protective strategies and the importance of seeking professional help. Information about the iCall helpline number that provides support to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress was provided to the participants.

Awareness program on "Noise Pollution":
The Department of ENT, KS Hegde Medical Academy, in collaboration with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board organized an awareness program for the students of Dr. M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Tapovana - Thokur on "Noise Pollution" on 27th February 2023. Mr. Vivek, Deputy Environmental Officer, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, inaugurated the program. Prof. (Dr) Rajeshwari, Dept. of ENT, KSHEMA introduced the audience to Project Nishabhd. Dr. Shravan Alva spoke about noise pollution and its hazards. Dr G Sriniketan, President, IIC, Nitte presided over the function. Dr Shrilatha Rao, Principal delivered the vote of thanks. About 270 students benefited from this program.

Public Awareness Program on ”women’s mental health”:
The Department of Psychiatry organized a Public Awareness Program, "AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON WOMEN’S MENTAL HEALTH" on 26-03-2023 at Murunagara community, Bajpe. St. Aloysius college (autonomous), through its social work trainees, collaborated with the ‘Department of Psychiatry’ of K.S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte and ‘Jeevanidhi Trust, Bajpe’ to conduct a community programme on women’s mental health for the women of Murunagara community, Bajpe. The resource person for the programme was Ms. Agneita Aiman Pengal, the psychiatric social worker in KSHEMA. Ms. Agenita Aiman later conducted an interactive session with the beneficiaries regarding the importance of mental health and the various barriers faced by women in achieving their mental wellbeing. She also spoke about the various stressors in a women’s daily life and also equipped them with coping startergies for each of the stressors. The women also shared their various experiences and queries regarding mental wellbeing.

Beach cleaning drive at Malpe:
The NSS unit of NMAMIT conducted a beach cleaning drive at Malpe on 30th September 2023 under the guidance of Assistant Professors Mr. Srinivas Nekkar, Ms. Sonia Lobo and Ms. Geetha from the Department of Humanities, who coordinated this program. Fifty NSS volunteers participated in this cleaning campaign.

Beach cleaning drive at Someshwar:
The NSS unit of NUCSER organized a beach cleaning drive at Someshwar on the occasion of the National Pollution Prevention Day on 2nd December 2023. The event was aligned to the theme for the year “Sustainable Development for a Clean and Healthy Planet”, to conserve marine life and help reduce plastic usage due to human activities along the coast. Volunteers and staff from NUCSER joined hands with the Kotekar Pattana Panchayat at Someshwara beach with a cause to save the beach from pollution. The cleaning campaign was successful as the participants did their bit in making the beach clean and beautiful.

Observation of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day:
The Youth Red Cross Unit of NGSMIPS in association with the Blood Bank of Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital organized a Blood Donation Camp on 6th October 2023 in observation of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. In his inaugural speech, Prof. Dr. CS Shastry, Principal, NGSMIPS encouraged the students to donate blood and urged them to raise awareness in society about blood donation, as it is a noble act that helps save the lives of those with serious medical issues. All the NSS volunteers, teaching and non-teaching staff attended the program. 35 students donated blood. Dr. Santanu Saha, YRC Program Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

Public Awareness Program on “BONE AND JOINT DAY 2023:
The Department of Orthopaedics organized a Public Awareness Program, "“BONE AND JOINT DAY 2023”" from 04-08-2023 to 05-08-2023. On 04.08.2023 Programme was inaugurated by Commander in Chief of 7th battalion of KSRP Shri Prasad PM and Dr Vikram Shetty Professor & HOD Department of Orthopaedics. Training was given by Dr Gayathri Bhat and team. Sixty-seven Karnataka Staff Revenue Police personnel were trained a FIRST AID and BASIC LIFE Support Skill with practical case scenarios on mannequins. On 05.08.2023 Posters ware made on Osteoporosis, in order to create awareness about Bone health Seminars and informative talk were given to students of Physiotherapy and paramedical courses on Osteoporosis by Dr Sreedhish K Senior Resident Department of Orthopaedics KSHEMA.

Breaking Barriers and Fostering Excellence: Nitte University Empowers Educational Leaders:
Celebrating four decades of commitment to education, Nitte Education Trust, through Nitte University, continues to champion knowledge dissemination and community upliftment. As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, Nitte University has been organising a biennial one-day workshop for the Principals of Pre-University Colleges in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts since 2011. This year marked a milestone as Nitte University hosted the one-day Workshop for PU Principals from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu Districts on the 27th, 28th and 29th of November 2023. The theme, "Breaking the Barriers of Present-Day Challenges Faced by Institutions," resonated with the pressing issues in contemporary education. Diving deep into pertinent topics, the workshop addressed "Challenges faced by the Educational leaders with stakeholders (Management, faculty, non-teaching staff, parent, student and general public)" and "Building a healthy relationship between teachers and students". These crucial aspects were explored to equip educational leaders with the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of their roles.

Breastfeeding Week Celebration:
As a part of the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2023, the Department of Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences conducted a Mass Health Education program on 'Breastfeeding' at Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project office, Falnir, Mangaluru on 3rd August 2023. Dr. Sharlet Dsouza, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Child Health Nursing, delivered health education on breastfeeding techniques, positions and the significance of exclusive breastfeeding and addressed the doubts and queries from participants. 10 students and 2 faculty from NUINS attended the program. 203 women benefitted from the program.

Campus Bird Count 2023:
The Campus Bird Count (CBC) at Nitte is held in February each year as a part of a sub-event of the bigger event of the Great Backyard Bird Count organised by eBird, The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This event is held across India, in which several campuses participate and collect data simultaneously on the bird species found in and around their respective campuses. This is later uploaded to eBird servers for research purposes. The CBC event was organised by Nitte University for the fourth consecutive year from 17th to 20th February 2023. A seminar on bird watching was conducted on 17th February at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus. Dr Vineet Kumar K, Principal, CFAL and a popular birder of Mangalore was the chief resource person. Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Officer, Nitte DU presided over the lecture session. This was followed by bird counting in different campuses, conducted twice a day - early morning & late evenings from 18th to 20th February 2023. The walks were led by Dr Vineet Kumar K, Mr Mohd. Saif Hasmani, Student Coordinator and Dr Smitha Hegde, Dy. Director, NUCSER. The Campus Bird Count event organised by Nitte DU is a successful initiative that brings together individuals from different backgrounds to appreciate and learn about birds and value these gorgeous companions on campus. The event provided valuable data on bird species within the campus. The event saw an impressive turnout of 61 individuals from various faculties. They collectively recorded sightings of 70 bird species in the campuses. The recorded species included migratory birds and resident birds ranging from small passerines to large raptors. The participants recorded sightings of rare species, such as the Pied Kingfisher and Indian Nightjar.

Capacity Building Training on First Aid:
A special training program on First Aid & Emergency Care was organized by the Dept. of Community Health Nursing of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in collaboration with the Natekal PHC at NU-MEDISIM, 2nd floor, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital on 18th August 2023. A total of 20 health workers from Natekal were trained in first aid & emergency skills such as Wound Dressing, Bandaging & Restraining, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Management of poisonous bite, Hemorrhage control, Trauma Care – cervical spine stabilization, shifting & transfer, Management of foreign body aspiration etc. Ms. Pavithra, one of the participants of the training program, in her feedback expressed confidence in managing any victim of accident or any health issues. Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Ms. Latha, Ms. Jeevitha, Mr. Sukesh Shetty, Dr. Suchithra, Dr. Neetha Kamath, Dr. Jacintha Veigas were the trainers for the program.

Children’s Day Celebration at De Mercede Orphanage:
The NSS unit of NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated Children’s Day at De Mercede orphanage, Paneer on 17th November 2023. Prof. Dr. CS Shastry, Principal, staff, NSS Program officer, NSS volunteers and students of NGSMIPS attended the program along with the Orphanage in-charge, Sr. Luciana. Donations by way of cash and a few necessities like clothes, stationery kits, groceries and food items were handed over to the orphanage. Students and NSS volunteers of the college distributed sweets and candies to the children.

Awareness on `Prevention of High-risk behaviours among adolescents:
The Department of Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, celebrated Children's Day at Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Government High School, Deralakatte on 18th November 2023 under the direction of Prof. Sujatha R, Head, Dept. of Child Health Nursing. Faculty members Dr. Sharlet Simple Dsouza & Ms. Jeevitha Alva, along with MSc and PBBSc Nursing students raised awareness on `Prevention of High-risk behaviours among adolescents`, using lectures and videos. About 150 students attended this session. Stationery items and sweets were distributed to students.

Clinical training on capability enhancement program on ’handling emergencies’:
Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in collaboration with Justice KS Hedge Charitable Hospital organized the ICMR-funded Clinical Training on ‘Handling Emergencies’ from 5th November to 7th November 2023. This program is geared towards training 150 staff nurses in and around Mangaluru.

Creating awareness about Food Safety Standards:
The United Nations has declared June 7 as World Food Safety Day to highlight the importance of food safety and the role of players in the food chain, from primary production to consumption or from farm to plate. The theme of World Food Safety Day 2023 is “Food standards save lives”. To create awareness about food safety standards and improve understanding about them in the industry, Nitte DST Technology Enabling Center, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), organized a workshop on “Understanding food safety standards” at Ocean Pearl Hotel, Mangalore, on June 7, 2023. The workshop was attended by over 70 participants, including food business operators, small-scale producer organizations, and academia. Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University, highlighted the impact of food processing and eating habits on food safety. The discussions covered improving food hygiene and food safety in all segments of the food industry, including street vendors, quality control, certifications, and accreditations required by food testing laboratories.

Drug awareness Programme:

Nitte University has launched an urban tree-counting initiative aimed at assessing and preserving green cover in city areas, contributing to sustainable urban planning and environmental conservation.

Free Workshop on Social Media Marketing:
A free day-long workshop on Social Media Marketing was conducted at Nitte Institute of Communication on Sunday, 19th February 2023. Prof Raviraj, Head, Nitte Institute of Communication, was the Resource Person. The morning session saw a discussion on the role and increasing presence of social media in everyday life. A short introduction to colour, design aesthetics, using images and appropriate fonts, followed. In the afternoon, students were taught the basics of Canva software and were asked to design a poster individually. A Question & Answer session followed with students getting their doubts answered. A total of 28 students from all over Mangalore and Udupi attended the workshop.

Health awareness campaign:
Our first-year MPH scholars from the Division of Public Health, KSHEMA, conducted health awareness campaign “Nutrimission” at Government Higher Primary School, Nadupadavu. campaign on 29th September 2023. The campaign aimed to educate 57 children in classes 1-7 about the importance of a healthy diet. We made every bite count and celebrated National Nutrition Month with this impactful initiative.

The Department of Community Medicine organized a Health Camp / Outreach Program, "Vanamahotsava Programme in Rural Health Centers KSHEMA" from 03-07-2023 to 15-07-2023 at Rural Health Centers, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte Deemed to be University. Vanamahotsava programs were conducted from 03.07.2023 to 15.07.2023 in 12 Rural Health Centers of K S Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte Deemed to be University under the guidance of honourable vice president of rural health. Total of 100 plants were planted. The program was coordinated by Department of Community Medicine and Medical officer of the respective health centers.

Health education on the topic Alzheimer’s disease was conducted on 12/01/2023 at Justice KS Hegde Charitable hospital by Ms Saifa (Medical Intern) under the guidance of Dr Meera (Community medicine JR) and Mr Santhosh (Medico social worker). A poster presentation was done, and people were explained regarding the disease, early symptoms, risk factors, treatment and Prevention. Patient parties of KSHEMA medicine in-patients were the audience. Audience was a mix of Malayalees and Kannadikas. Venue being the Clinical teaching room in the Medicine General wards, 4 th floor. Presenter Saifa prepared a chart in Kannada and gave talk in Malayalam. Mr. Santhosh translated to Kannada.

The Department of Public Health organized a Public Awareness Program, "Janani Aarogya-Arogyakara nalegagi Surakshita Aahara" from 21-02-2023 at Kotekar Pattana Panchayat. The Department of Public Health, K S Hegde Medical Academy, in association with Kotekar Pattana Panchayat, conducted a health promotional programme for Anganwadi mothers of Kotekar, Mangaluru. The programme addressed issues like maternal and child nutrition.

Awareness Program against Child Labour:
An awareness program was organized on 12th June 2023, by the Sustainable Development Cell in association with the Dept. of Community Medicine, KSHEMA on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour under the ambit of Sustainable Development Goal 16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG-16). The program aimed to raise awareness about the prevalence of child labour and its detrimental impact on our society. Two banners were placed within the hospital premises to grab the attention of visitors and staff. The banners conveyed powerful messages, urging everyone to take a stand against child labour and report any incidents they come across. A group of student volunteers actively engaged with hospital visitors, sensitizing them about the issue of child labour, emphasizing the importance of recognizing child labour as a crime, and encouraging individuals to play an active role in combating it. The visitors were also informed about the appropriate channels for reporting such cases.

The Department of ENT, K S Hegde Medical Academy organized a Public Awareness Program under Nishabda Project on 'Noise induced hearing loss' at Shri Mahalingeshwara Vidyanikethana, Kunjathur on 8th February 2023. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:
The NSS Unit, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with Gandhi Nagara Yuvaka & Yuvathi Vrinda (Reg.), Hejmadi Kodi and Hejmadi Gram Panchayat, coordinated a beach cleaning Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program at Hejmadi Kodi on 29th January 2023. Prof. (Dr) Rahul Bhandary, Dr. Amarshree Shetty, Dr. Preethesh Shetty, Dr. Avaneendra Talwar, Dr Shonit along with 60 students from the batch of Troizeanz manually cleaned the area of the solid wastes by picking plastic bottles, wrappers and other wastes. The wastes were collected in environment friendly polypropylene reused cement bags and the collected wastes were disposed appropriately in a landfill. The team was provided refreshments and breakfast at the Nitte Centre, Hajmadi.

Walkathon and Awareness talk on the occasion of the World Alzheimer's Day:
The Department of Mental Health Nursing NUINS in collaboration with the Belma Grama Panchayath, Deralakatte organized a Walkathon and Awareness talk on the occasion of the World Alzheimer's Day on 23rd September 2023. Students from the II GNM participated in a role-play activity centred around the theme ‘It's Never Too Early, It's Never Too Late’. Dr. Yashwanth MH, Jr. Resident, Dept. of Psychiatry, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital provided valuable insights into Alzheimer's disease, focusing on its symptoms & management, and the care required for dementia patients. Dr. Nalini M, HoD, Mental Health Nursing, along with Mr. Sukesh Shetty, Asst. Professor, Ms. Jincy KS, Lecturer, NUINS and Mr. Rajesh, Social Worker actively contributed to the event. Ms. Prathima Sherigarthy, Lecturer coordinated the event, which drew an audience comprising 5 faculty members, 26 GNM students and 50 residents of the Grama Panchayath.

Mass Health Education program on ‘Breast Feeding’:
As a part of World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2023, the Dept. of Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences conducted a Mass Health Education program on ‘Breast Feeding’ at Shadi Mahal, Bolar, Mangalore on 7th August 2023. The program started with a brief introduction by Mrs. Anupama, Anganwadi Supervisor. The health talks on “Breastfeeding” were given by Mrs. Jeevitha Alva, Asst. Professor and Prof. Sujatha R of NUINS. They explained the techniques & positions of breastfeeding, importance of storing breast milk and also clarified doubts. Toys, crayons and colouring, books were distributed to the Anganwadi children. A total of 132 women benefitted from the program.

Nitte university in association with Karnataka State Bioenergy Development Board (KSBDB-Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj) Government of Karnataka and Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST-Energy Cell, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru) celebrated the World Biofuel Day on 10th August 2023. Interactive session with alumnus, Albert Anthony:
An interactive session was conducted with alumnus, Albert Anthony at the Institute premises on 29th August 2023. Albert who belonged to the BA 2016-19 batch, is now working as Assistant Director / Director of Photography in Mumbai. Speaking to students, he said the best way to get into the film industry was by working on your portfolio & making sure you have some good work to show filmmakers. It could be something as simple as a short video or reel made for Instagram, a well shot set of pictures, or even a well-made assignment. He encouraged them to help each other build portfolios and work in each other’s projects. “The film industry is always on the lookout for talent and if you are willing to work hard and be on your toes, there is nothing that could stop you”, he said. The interactive session was followed by a Question & Answer session where students wanted to know how it was working with celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon or Sara Ali Khan, all of whom he has worked with at different times. He also shared with students his contact details and promised to help them with internships & projects.

Free Oral Health Awareness & Free dental treatment camp for Koraga Tribal Community:
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with Padupanambur Grama Panchayat; Primary Health Centre Attur Kemral; Lions Club MJF Mulki and Leo Club Mulki, conducted a free dental treatment camp for the Koraga tribal community at Swami Koragajja Sabha Bhavan, Kerekad, Thokur on 14.02.2023. Oral health awareness was provided. A total of 18 patients, belonging to the Koraga tribe, were screened during the camp. 4 patients underwent GIC restorations, 1 patient - extraction, 6 patients - oral prophylaxis and 8 patients were referred to the dental college and Talipady Rural Centre for further treatment.

Free dental treatment camp for the school children of Valmiki Residential school, Kadri in association with the Department of Tribal Welfare, Dakshina Kannada district:
AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with Department of Tribal Welfare, Dakshina Kannada district, conducted a free dental treatment camp for the inmates of Valmiki Residential School, Kadri on 21.11.2023. Oral health awareness was provided. A total of 88 students, belonging to the scheduled tribe, were screened during the camp. About 34 students underwent oral prophylaxis, 31 students underwent restoration and 18students were referred to the dental college for further treatment.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS in association with the Department of Tribal Welfare, Dakshina Kannada district, conducted a free dental treatment camp for the inmates of Valmiki Residential School, Madhya, Surathkal on 23.11.2023. Oral health awareness was provided. 185 students belonging to the scheduled tribe, 1 parent and 10 staff members were screened and treated during the camp.

Free oral health awareness and dental screening camp for Tibetan refugees:
The Department of Public Health Dentistry at ABSMIDS in collaboration with Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, organized a free oral health awareness & dental screening camp for Tibetan refugees on 22nd December 2023. Dr. Nalini, Professor, NUINS welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Sahana Maben, Clinical Coordinator, ABSMIDS served as the resource person. Dr. Maben delivered an insightful talk on oral health, focusing on maintaining proper oral hygiene, correct brushing techniques and the harmful effects of tobacco. 68 students from the Tibetan community underwent dental screening, with patients requiring further treatment being referred to ABSMIDS for complimentary care.
