The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Student Club, NMAMIT celebrated World Standards Day on 14th October 2024. The event brought together students & faculty members across four departments - Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical, Civil and Robotics & AI to emphasize the critical role of standards in ensuring quality and safety in engineering and technology.
Chief Guest Dr. I Ramesh Mithanthaya, Vice Principal & Dean (Academics), NMAMIT stressed the importance of standards in every facet of life, from product safety to engineering excellence. He elaborated on how the Bureau of Indian Standards plays a pivotal role in creating a universal system of standards that benefits industries and consumers. Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT in his presidential remarks reiterated the importance of youth being aware of and adhering to standards.
Vaishnav Shenoy from III ECE welcomed the gathering, followed by Dr. Anantha Krishna Somayaji, the club mentor from Mechanical Engineering, who introduced the BIS Club. ID cards were then distributed to student leaders and core members.
Dr. Anusha Sharath from E&C announced the names of student leaders which included Vaishnav Shenoy (ECE), Ananya Shetty (Robotics & AI), P. Akshara (Mechanical) and Sumith Hegde (Civil). Winners of a club-organized quiz were also honored, with Ms. Thanushree Hegde from Civil presenting the list of awardees. Ananya Shetty delivered the vote of thanks and Shreya Prabhu, II ECE was the Master of Ceremony.
