Vice Principal

Dr.I.R. Mithanthaya had his early education at Innanje and Saint Mary’s Junior College Shirva. He did his B.E in Civil Engineering from Govt. B.D.T. College of Engineering Davangere during the year 1983-1984. After his graduation, he joined NRAM Polytechnic Nitte as Lecturer in Civil Engineering during August 1984. After serving for two years as Head of Department in Civil Engineering, he joined to NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte as Sr. Lecturer in 1986. From 1986 to 1989 Prof. I.R.Mithanthya worked as Sr. Lecturer and Coordinator of the department. During 1989-1991, he did his M.Tech in Industrial Structure from N.I.T.K Surathkal.

From 2000 to 2003 Prof. I.R. Mithanthaya worked as Asst. Professor in Civil Engineering Department of Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. Dr.Mithanthaya completed his M.B.A Degree through Karnataka Open University during the year 2004 in Human Resource Management. From 2003 to 2007 Dr. Mithanthaya worked as Associate Prof. and Head of Civil Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte. He obtained his doctorate degree from NITK Surathkal for his thesis “ Performance studies of Enzyme stabilized soils” during February 2011.

Dr. Mithanthaya is member of various professional bodies such as Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Indian Geotechnical society (IGS), Fellow of Indian Valuver (FIV) and Indian Road Congress (IRS). Dr. Mithanthaya also worked as Secretary for Indian Junior Chamber, Nitte during 1988-1989 and as a President for the year 2004-2005.He is working as Secretary of NET Student’s Cooperative Stores from the last 10 years. Dr. Mithanthaya worked as Coordinator for World Bank project Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Phase I which is 12.5 Crores project sanctioned to NMAMIT, Nitte. He was also Coordinator for TEQIP project Phase II which was 4.00 Crore project which mainly focused on Research development at NMAMIT,Nitte. Dr. Mithanthaya has published more than 10 technical papers in National & International journals. He has presented 30 papers in National & International Conferences. Dr. Mithnathaya visited countries like Canada, Italy, Srilanka and Japan on different assignments. He has guided more than 25 M.Tech projects and presently guiding 5 Ph. D. students.

From, Feb.2007 to June 2012 Dr. Mithanthaya worked as Chief Project Leader of Entrepreneur Development Cell of NMAMIT, Nitte. From July 2012, Dr. Mithanthaya has taken the charge as Vice Principal & Dean (Academics) of NMAMIT, Nitte.

Dr. Shrinivasa Rao B. R. is currently working as Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his B.E in Mechanical Engineering, from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan in 1984. He obtained his M.Tech in Heat Power Engineering from erstwhile KREC (NITK) Surathkal with First Class with Distinction. He obtained his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, from NITK Surathkal in I.C. Engines in 2005. He has more than 29 years of teaching and research experience. He has more than 75 research papers in National / International Journals and Conferences. He has guided 4 Ph.D scholars and is currently guiding 2 Ph.D Scholars. He has conducted several short term training programmes, conferences and workshops.

He is Life Member of The Institution of Engineers (I), ISTE and Combustion Institute (I). His areas of interest include I.C. Engines, Alternate Fuels, Heat Transfer, Kinematics of Machines, Dynamics of Machines, Pollution & Control etc. Dr. Shrinivasa Rao visited Canada as a part of NDRF-VTU-BU-JNTU-SPFU (TEQIP) – TAIBC delegation during October – November 2013. He visited University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, Camosun College, Royal Roads University, Trinity Western University and some well known industries including Ballard Power System to study and understand areas of cooperation. This included research, faculty exchange and student exchange in a wide ranging fields like Nanotechnology, Materials Engineering etc.
