In modern times, inventions and innovations also earn money for the inventors, and to preserve the rights over the invention, patenting has come into existence. At NMAMIT, we give great importance to patenting activity, so much so that, the institution funds the patenting process in its entirety.

NITTE (DU) has made arrangements for the filing of patents through a designated agency. It is involved in the preparation of documents for copyright, patent, and design. All the patent applications of the constituent institution including NMAMIT are processed through the IPR cell of the University. All the expenses associated with patent filing are borne by Nitte University.

'KAPILA' for Patent Awareness
The Government (GoI) has launched a campaign namely Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness Campaign (KAPILA) for Intellectual Property Literacy and create patent awareness on 15 October 2020. The objectives of the scheme include creating awareness regarding IPR in Higher Education Institutions(HEIs), enabling IP protection of inventions originating from faculty and students of HEIs, developing Credit courses on IPR, training programs on IPR for faculty and students of HEIs and sensitization and development of vibrant IP filing system. So far, a total of 46,556 users have been registered for KAPILA.
