The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NMAM Institute of Technology is proud to announce the launch of a new M.Tech program in Mechatronics starting in the academic year 2025. This interdisciplinary program brings together mechanical, electrical, and computer systems to develop intelligent, efficient machines and processes. It is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of integrated system design, with a strong emphasis on robotics and artificial intelligence.
The curriculum, developed in collaboration with M/s AUTOLIV, Bengaluru, a leading OEM in automobile safety focuses on automation, control, and optimization. AUTOLIV has also established an Incubation Centre within the department to offer students hands-on training, internships, and industry-oriented projects. Additionally, the program is supported by technical partnerships with Fronius India Limited, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, and Wipro 3D, ensuring students gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies and industrial practices.
Courses offered in the first two semesters include Data Analytics, Fundamentals of Mechatronic Systems, Micro and Smart Systems, and Advanced Control Systems, among others. A diverse range of electives enables students to explore specialized areas such as bio-mechatronics, mechatronic system design, computer programming, and integrated electrical and mechanical systems.
Laboratory training forms a vital component of the program, featuring facilities such as the Festo Hydraulics and Pneumatics Lab integrated with PLC control systems, and the ABB Robot Studio Suite for robotics programming and simulation. This forward-thinking curriculum is tailored to equip graduates with the skills and expertise needed to thrive in the evolving landscape of intelligent automation and smart systems.
To produce Mechanical engineers of the highest quality who are professionally competent and highly qualified to suit the needs of industries and organizations by promoting excellence in teaching, learning and research.
