"APATHBANDHUA" training program for rural volunteers in first aid and emergency care

'APATHBANDHU', a training program for rural volunteers from Chelairu and Madhya villages of Surathkal, in first aid & emergency care was sponsored by MRPL-ONGC, Mangalore and jointly organized by Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Institution Innovation Council Nitte DU, NU-MEDISIM and the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA on 28th & 29th April 2022.

Shri. N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) in his inaugural address said that it is essential that we educate our localities about healthcare. This calls for selfless service, dedication, concern and genuine love for the cause of humanity. Dr. Kishor, District Health Officer, DK was the Chief Guest and Shri. Venkatesh M, Managing Director, MRPL-ONGC was the Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte (DU) said, most of the health-related problems are the outcome of negligence and lack of awareness. 'APATHBANDHU' is one of the unique and aspirational initiatives of the University to train the rural volunteers with hands-on skills in first aid and emergency care. Training kits were distributed to the trainees by Shri. Venkatesh. Dr. Srinikethan, Director Technical Research, Nitte (DU) Shri. Sanjay Verma, Director Refinery, MRPL-ONGC, Shri. Sudarsan, Chief Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, MRPL-ONGC, Mrs. Yashoda, President, Chelairu Gram Panchayath were present during the program. Dr. Fatima Dsilva, Principal of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Science welcomed the guests and briefed about the program and Dr. Neetha Kamath proposed the vote of thanks.
