A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Responsible Pedagogy: Professional Ethics and AI in Teaching and Research” was successfully organised by the Staff Development Centre of Dr. NSAM First Grade College on 25th April 2026. The programme aimed to equip faculty members with updated knowledge and practical insights into integrating ethical practices and artificial intelligence in teaching and research.
The FDP comprised three insightful sessions, each focusing on significant aspects of contemporary pedagogy and academic practices.
The first session highlighted the importance of responsible teaching practices and professional ethics in higher education. The resource person emphasised academic integrity, ethical classroom behaviour, fairness in evaluation, and the educator’s role in creating a positive and responsible learning environment. Key issues such as plagiarism, transparency, and maintaining professional conduct in academic settings were discussed in detail.
The second session focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in the field of education. The session introduced various AI tools that can support teaching, personalised learning, content creation, and student engagement. The resource person also stressed the importance of using AI responsibly to maintain academic authenticity and avoid excessive dependence on technology.
The final session dealt with the application of AI in research activities. It explored the use of AI tools for data analysis, research automation, literature review, and publication support. The session also addressed ethical concerns associated with AI, including data privacy, bias in AI systems, and the need for responsible and ethical research practices.
The FDP was highly informative, interactive, and intellectually enriching. Participants actively engaged in discussions and clarified their queries during the interactive sessions. The programme provided valuable insights into balancing technological advancements with ethical responsibility in academia.
Overall, the Faculty Development Programme successfully enhanced the participants’ understanding of responsible pedagogy and the ethical integration of AI in teaching and research, thereby contributing to their professional growth and academic excellence.
