Department of Computer Application-Orientation Program

12th to 14th August 2024

Department of BCA conducted a three-day orientation Programme from 12th to 14th August 2024 to welcome the new batch of students. The orientation began with an inauguration by Principal Prof. Raghavendra R., followed by a warm welcome address from HOD, Prof. Naveen Kumar. The guest of honor Dr. Sreekanth Rallapalli shared his valuable insights with the students.

The second day featured a lecture by Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Assistant Professor of Kannada, about the COC, a library orientation by Mr. Dhananjay, and a tree plantation drive.

The final day included a trekking trip to Devarayana Durga Hills, allowing students to bond and create lasting memories. Overall, the Programme provided a balanced mix of academic guidance, practical insights, and recreational activities.

Department of Management – Orientation Program

5th to 9th August 2024

The function was officially inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest Mr. B Gururaja Rao, Director, Counseling and Life skill & Wellness Service, NMIT Bengaluru delivered the inaugural address. In his address, he motivated all students and asked them to pursue their dreams and use the enormous facilities provided by the Institution.

Guest talk on The Role of Emotions in Consumer

The session covered an introduction to consumer behavior, different views of consumer decision-making, the emotional view of purchase decisions, and impulsive purchases. Emotions are powerful tools that override other purchase decision factors and the resource person illustrated the concepts with different examples.

Product Launch Event

The Management Forum, under the aegis of Department of Management, organized a highly anticipated "Interclass Product Launch" event. The event was a celebration of creativity, innovation, and strategic thinking, providing students with a platform to demonstrate their business insight. The event was attended by faculty, students, and an esteemed guest, Dr. Lokesh G R, Associate Professor and Research Supervisor at Nagarjuna College, Bengaluru.

Business Quiz

19th September 2024

The quiz witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, with a total of 22 teams registering for the event. Each team comprised two members, who demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and preparation for the quiz. The preliminary round was a challenging yet exciting affair, where the teams battled it out to secure a place in the finals.

The preliminary round included short-answer questions covering various aspects of business, economics, current affairs, and general knowledge. After a rigorous evaluation, 6 teams emerged victorious and qualified for the final rounds.

The final rounds of the quiz were meticulously planned and executed, comprising five distinct and challenging rounds. Each round was designed to test different facets of the participants' knowledge and reasoning abilities.

Department of Management – Aero Connect

3rd October 2024

The aero connect initiative aimed to enhance the educational experience of BBA Aviation students bridging theoretical knowledge with practical industry exposure. The Programme included activities such as identifying airline logos, competing in paper aircraft distance challenges, and mapping airline routes.

Five-Day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Prompt Engineering and Applications in Education”

The FDP aimed to equip educators with AI-driven tools and prompt engineering skills to enhance teaching practices. The sessions, led by experts, covered topics such as AI tools, crafting effective prompts, advanced techniques, curriculum integration, and ethical considerations. This FDP empowered educators with actionable skills and AI literacy, fostering innovation, collaboration, and responsible AI use, ensuring preparedness for the evolving digital age.

During the tour, the students witnessed the working space of companies like L&T, E-smart, Tech global, IBM, etc. The students had an interactive session with the employees of iGreentree AI pvt. ltd.

Students were divided into smaller teams, each guided by a company staff member. The itinerary included a tour of the production facility, where students observed various stages of robotic assembly and automation processes.

BCA Forum Techno sapiens conducted Technothsava-2k24, an intercollegiate IT Fest. Students from various colleges actively participated in various events on both the days. Many of the events were conducted in the fest like Technical Talk, Fashion show, Group dance, snake and ladder, logo design and so on.

The Conclave Debate was organised on the topic “The role of youth in shaping the outcome of Lok Sabha Elections” helped the students to know insight of the elections. The event panellists from various departments gave insight about loksabha elections. It was a good platform for the students to improve their language fluency, confidence level and helped them to get more information about the topic.

MANAGEMENT FORUM INAUGURATION

18th APRIL 2024

Dr. Ganesh P.B, the Academic Director of Dhanwantari Academy for Management Studies, was the chief guest and he inaugurated the Leadership Forum. Dr. Ganesh spoke to the students about the need to engage in forum activities and to sharpen their talents so that they can be better placed in their careers. Furthermore, the students released the Management Forum logo.

The inaugural season of the Nitte Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament was held at Dr. NSAM First Grade College Cricket Ground from 7th to 12th May 2024. The tournament featured 16 teams from various batches and departments, showcasing exceptional cricketing talent among the students.

The guest lecture on "Investment Decisions" provided an in-depth exploration of various financial metrics and methods essential for evaluating investment projects. Students engaged with HR professionals from various industries, participating in mock interviews and insightful discussions. This interactive experience effectively bridged the gap between academia and industry practices. As part of their coursework, this initiative focused on strengthening the Institute-Industry Interface.

Guest Lecture “On the Scope of Journalism”

The Department of Arts organized a guest lecture for the BA Journalism students on the theme “Scope of Journalism '' on 10 September 2022 to give students an idea about the opportunities and scopes after pursuing a degree in Journalism. The resource person was Mr. Sachin K.M., Senior Language Expert for Google and Amazon Magnun Sancus. He shared in detail about the recent avenues available in print as well as the electronic media field with students. The students interacted with the resource person with a lot of interest. The session was useful for the students.

Guest Lecture “Role of Women in Environmental Sustainability and Gender rights”

An online guest lecture on the “Role of Women in Environmental Sustainability” was organized on 02-12-2022 for the BA students to create awareness and social sensitivity among students regarding the issue of ecological sustainability and gender rights. The resource person of the event was Ms. Madhurima Dasgupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Adamas University, Kolkata. The resource person shared various means by which women can play a major role in maintaining a sustainable environment.

Three Days Virtual National Faculty Development Programme on “Qualitative Research in Social Sciences – An Overview”

A Three-day Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Qualitative Research in Social Sciences – An Overview” was organized by the Department of Arts in association with Anweshana – Research and Development Cell as an IQAC initiative from 18 January 2023 to 20 January 2023. Resource persons were Ms. Moutan Roy from Haldia Government College in West Bengal, Dr. Vahini Aravind of Bangalore University and Dr. Seema Dutta from Adamas University of West Bengal. The event drew 80 participants from all over India. The speakers spoke in detail about the paradigm shift in social science research and various qualitative methods of assessment of the findings in social science research in addition to quantitative tools.

Field Visit (Psychology) to Missionaries of Charity – Mother Teresa’s Home for the Sick and Dying Destitute

Fourteen students of Psychology from 1st and 2nd years of the Department of Arts went to a field visit to the Missionaries of Charity – Mother Teresa’s Home for the Sick and Dying Destitute on 6 March 2023. The students learned about mental disorders that the inmates suffer from. They learnt about the psychiatric treatment that the inmates had been receiving. They were also educated about Animal assisted therapy that was being provided to the inmates. The students participated learned about how to respond and handle with empathy the mentally retarded individuals and take care of them with utmost sympathy.

Workshop on “Newspaper Designing”

A workshop on “Newspaper Designing” was organized for the BA, B.Com and BBA students on 20 July 2023. The resource person invited for the programme was Mr. Manikanta, Project Chief of ABALASHARAMA MEDIA TRAINING CENTER, Bangalore. Around 30 students actively participated in the programme with many useful questions and comments. He briefed the history of news paper. The resource person gave a detailed idea about the various sections of newspaper from page one onwards and how to be creative while designing the pages based on the content to be printed. There was hands on experience for the students during the workshop.

Field Visit (Journalism) to Abalashrama Media Training Centre

A one-day field visit to ABALASHRAMA MEDIA TRAINING CENTRE, Basavanagudi, Bangalore was organized by the Department of Arts on 9th August 2023. The main agenda of the visit was that the students of journalism to learn about Television broadcasting system and news anchoring.

There was a good exposure for the students to understand as to how the broadcasting system works and what are the roles and responsibilities of a journalist making the Television media more effective to the public.

Guest Lecture on Developmental Psychology

A guest lecture was organized on 12 August 2023 for the students of 4th semester Psychology on the theme of Developmental Psychology, based on syllabus. The resource person was Ms. Sabina Juliet, a life skills preceptor and councellor. A total of 14 students participated in the guest lecture, including students from beyond the targeted audience. Ms. Juliet explained in detail various stages of development during juvenile stage, formative age, teen age and adolescents behavior. She also made a mention about the psychological impact on children during the formative age in detail. Overall the session was very informative and educative.

One Day Virtual National Students’ Conference “Rethinking LGBTQIA+: Youth Perspectives”

The Department of Arts organized a one-day virtual National-level Students’ conference on the theme “Rethinking LGBTQIA+: Youth Perspectives” on 26 August 2023. A total of 22 papers were presented by UG and PG students from various states.

Dr. Sikha Das, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), was invited as the Chairperson and keynote speaker. She chose the best papers and distributed cash prizes. In her Keynote address Dr. Sikha spoke about the importance of understanding the issues related to LGBTQ and various steps that the Government of India is taking to bring these people into the mainstream. In this direction the appeal was made by the Chairperson to be more broad minded and have an acceptance towards this sect of society.

One Day Virtual National Level Conference

Department of Computer Applications conducted a One-day Virtual National Level Conference on “Advances in AI Research” on 23/08/2023. The Key note Speaker of the conference Dr. .S. Uma Mageswari delivered a brief and informative address on artificial intelligence, highlighting its application in various fields. In technical session participants from various parts of the country actively participated and presented their research papers on the application of artificial intelligence in various fields. There were 30 short listed research papers on the topic were presented by young budding research scholars and academicians from different institutions.

Workshop on Power BI (Business Intelligence)

Department of Computer Applications organised a Workshop on Power BI (Business Intelligence) for the 4th Semester B.Com and BBA Students. In this Workshop, students received hands-on training on analyzing the data in Power BI software using various sample data. This workshop was helpful for the students to excel in their academics.

Department of Computer Applications conducted an Industrial Visit to Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru for BCA Students. In this visit students got information related to different generation computers and recent developments in technology. They were exposed to various latest system and application softwares used by the Institute.

Field Visit to “GKVK”

Department of Computer Applications arranged a Field Visit to “GKVK”, Bengaluru on the occasion of “Krishimela” on 09/11/2022. In the visit, Students went through many ideological practices related to “Agriculture” and understood the usage of many advanced equipments used in Agriculture. They were also given exposure to the latest agricultural practices with the use of technology for better yield.

National Level Faculty Devlopment Program

Department of Computer Applications organized a five days National Level Faculty Development Program on “Research Application in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” from 20/02/23 to 24/02/23. This FDP witnessed many active participants across the state and yielded information related to artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Training on Moodle LMS as ALG Activity

The Department of Computer Applications of Dr.N.S.A.M First Grade College conducted a session on the usage of ALG in Moodle LMS at “Shankuntala Devi” Computer Lab on 23/12/2022. The resource person of the session Dr. Mohan Kumar guided the participants on how to use LMS Moodle Software how to upload study materials, and how to provide assignments for the students. This programme marked the beginning of the use of technology in education.
