Department of BCA conducted a three-day orientation Programme from 12th to 14th August 2024 to welcome the new batch of students. The orientation began with an inauguration by Principal Prof. Raghavendra R., followed by a warm welcome address from HOD, Prof. Naveen Kumar. The guest of honor Dr. Sreekanth Rallapalli shared his valuable insights with the students.
The second day featured a lecture by Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Assistant Professor of Kannada, about the COC, a library orientation by Mr. Dhananjay, and a tree plantation drive.

The resource person was Mr. Sachin K.M., Senior Language Expert for Google and Amazon Magnun Sancus. He shared in detail about the recent avenues available in print as well as the electronic media field with students. The students interacted with the resource person with a lot of interest. The session was useful for the students.
An online guest lecture on the “Role of Women in Environmental Sustainability” was organized on 02-12-2022 for the BA students to create awareness and social sensitivity among students regarding the issue of ecological sustainability and gender rights. The resource person of the event was Ms. Madhurima Dasgupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Adamas University, Kolkata. The resource person shared various means by which women can play a major role in maintaining a sustainable environment.
A Three-day Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Qualitative Research in Social Sciences – An Overview” was organized by the Department of Arts in association with Anweshana – Research and Development Cell as an IQAC initiative from 18 January 2023 to 20 January 2023. Resource persons were Ms. Moutan Roy from Haldia Government College in West Bengal, Dr. Vahini Aravind of Bangalore University and Dr. Seema Dutta from Adamas University of West Bengal. The event drew 80 participants from all over India. The speakers spoke in detail about the paradigm shift in social science research and various qualitative methods of assessment of the findings in social science research in addition to quantitative tools.
Fourteen students of Psychology from 1st and 2nd years of the Department of Arts went to a field visit to the Missionaries of Charity – Mother Teresa’s Home for the Sick and Dying Destitute on 6 March 2023. The students learned about mental disorders that the inmates suffer from. They learnt about the psychiatric treatment that the inmates had been receiving. They were also educated about Animal assisted therapy that was being provided to the inmates. The students participated learned about how to respond and handle with empathy the mentally retarded individuals and take care of them with utmost sympathy.
A workshop on “Newspaper Designing” was organized for the BA, B.Com and BBA students on 20 July 2023. The resource person invited for the programme was Mr. Manikanta, Project Chief of ABALASHARAMA MEDIA TRAINING CENTER, Bangalore. Around 30 students actively participated in the programme with many useful questions and comments. He briefed the history of news paper. The resource person gave a detailed idea about the various sections of newspaper from page one onwards and how to be creative while designing the pages based on the content to be printed. There was hands on experience for the students during the workshop.
A one-day field visit to ABALASHRAMA MEDIA TRAINING CENTRE, Basavanagudi, Bangalore was organized by the Department of Arts on 9th August 2023. The main agenda of the visit was that the students of journalism to learn about Television broadcasting system and news anchoring.
There was a good exposure for the students to understand as to how the broadcasting system works and what are the roles and responsibilities of a journalist making the Television media more effective to the public.
A guest lecture was organized on 12 August 2023 for the students of 4th semester Psychology on the theme of Developmental Psychology, based on syllabus. The resource person was Ms. Sabina Juliet, a life skills preceptor and councellor. A total of 14 students participated in the guest lecture, including students from beyond the targeted audience. Ms. Juliet explained in detail various stages of development during juvenile stage, formative age, teen age and adolescents behavior. She also made a mention about the psychological impact on children during the formative age in detail. Overall the session was very informative and educative.
The Department of Arts organized a one-day virtual National-level Students’ conference on the theme “Rethinking LGBTQIA+: Youth Perspectives” on 26 August 2023. A total of 22 papers were presented by UG and PG students from various states.
Dr. Sikha Das, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), was invited as the Chairperson and keynote speaker. She chose the best papers and distributed cash prizes. In her Keynote address Dr. Sikha spoke about the importance of understanding the issues related to LGBTQ and various steps that the Government of India is taking to bring these people into the mainstream. In this direction the appeal was made by the Chairperson to be more broad minded and have an acceptance towards this sect of society.
Department of Computer Applications conducted a One-day Virtual National Level Conference on “Advances in AI Research” on 23/08/2023. The Key note Speaker of the conference Dr. .S. Uma Mageswari delivered a brief and informative address on artificial intelligence, highlighting its application in various fields. In technical session participants from various parts of the country actively participated and presented their research papers on the application of artificial intelligence in various fields. There were 30 short listed research papers on the topic were presented by young budding research scholars and academicians from different institutions.

In this Workshop, students received hands-on training on analyzing the data in Power BI software using various sample data. This workshop was helpful for the students to excel in their academics.

In the visit, Students went through many ideological practices related to “Agriculture” and understood the usage of many advanced equipments used in Agriculture. The Department of Computer Applications of Dr.N.S.A.M First Grade College conducted a session on the usage of ALG in Moodle LMS at “Shankuntala Devi” Computer Lab on 23/12/2022. The resource person of the session Dr. Mohan Kumar guided the participants on how to use LMS Moodle Software how to upload study materials, and how to provide assignments for the students.
