Guest Lecture on Decoding Human Infectious Diseases through Functional Genomics: Insights from Fungal Infections and Tuberculosis

The Central Research Laboratory (CRL), in collaboration with the Institutional Research Cell Committee (IRCC), organized a Guest Lecture on “Decoding Human Infectious Diseases through Functional Genomics: Insights from Fungal Infections and Tuberculosis” on 5th June 2026 at the Medical Education Unit, KS Hegde Medical Academy. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinod Kumar MG, Associate Professor & Research Group Leader in Systems Immunology, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. An eminent researcher recognized for his contributions to systems immunology, functional genomics and infectious diseases, Dr. Kumar highlighted the transformative role of functional genomics in understanding host-pathogen interactions and disease susceptibility. He discussed recent advances in systems immunology and the application of multi-omics approaches in infectious disease research. Through engaging examples and case studies, he demonstrated how large-scale genomic data can be leveraged to decode immune mechanisms and improve disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment outcomes
