Workshop on Subcuticular Suturing

The Subcuticular Suturing Workshop, organized by Incīsiō, the Undergraduate General Surgery Club of KSHEMA, was held on 26th February 2026 at the Surgery Library, Academic Block. Conducted by Mr. Ian Maheshwaran, a faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons, the session provided hands-on training to 15 undergraduates of the III & IV year. The workshop began with an overview of wound healing principles and the indications for subcuticular suturing, followed by a detailed live demonstration emphasizing needle handling, bite depth, spacing, tension control and knot burial techniques. Students then practiced on suture pads, under supervision, receiving personalized feedback that enhanced their precision, technique and confidence.
