The Urban Planning and Development stream
requires the student to be pragmatic. It allows them to enjoy working with
different community interests. The Urban Planning and Development course
instills responsibility to work on social and environmental effects in the
communities and provides career paths in urban planning.
NSAPD is the only college offering a
B.Plan degree under VTU affiliation in Karnataka. We nurture our students to be
more creative, versatile, and ingenious as it is a blend of both architecture
and engineering. The Urban Planning Degree Program gives students extensive
knowledge of spatial planning, designing, technology-oriented knowledge, and
knowledge that enables the health and well-being of urban and rural
communities. Students are exposed to learning about the unheeded.
An engineer constructs a structure with
safety and functionality. An architect creates the building more aesthetically
appealing, including its appearance and function. Whereas an urban planner
heeds the necessity of the urban community by planning on a larger scale.
But Who Plans for a City/Region?
Urban planners decide where to put
structures and how to use land to serve the needs of the neighborhood. Although
not engineers or architects, urban planners and developers have some
characteristics of both of these professions.
Who are planners, and what do they do?
When we browse the Internet to learn
about the urban planning and development industry, we only learn about event
planners, wedding planners, website planners, and other related professionals.
None of the aforementioned is done by the planner we are speaking of. The
question of what an urban planner does now emerges. What do they do?
Global Cities from recent decades are
facing dynamic growth and development, making it inevitable to plan for their
citizen's sustainable living. Urban Planning and Development aims to improve
the quality of life for both the users living in an urban or rural area. They
deal with various fields of study like Statistics, Economics, Geography,
Sociology, Political Science, History, Environment and Landscape, Land cover,
Land use, Geographic Information System, Infrastructure, Transportation, Urban
Design, Housing, and Real estate. This makes a planner fit into any field for
development. With the impetus for development in India, a shrinking world is a
boon for good planners with a global outlook who can plan developmental growth,
migration patterns, and sustainable green lifestyles, retaining high standards
of delivery and an attitude to learn and change the trends of sustainable
urbanism.

qualified planners in consonance with the accelerating pace of urbanization
within the country and related urban and regional problems that require urgent
attention, NITTE SAPD in Bangalore, Karnataka, offered Bachelors in Planning.
