Industry Masterclass: Explores How AI Is Changing Human Resource Management

Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management (JKSHIM) hosted an Industry Masterclass on “AI-Driven Human Resources Management: A Paradigm Shift in the Workplace” on 10 October 2026.

Ms. Vidya Shenoy, AGM-HR, Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions, Udupi was the resource person. Ms. Shenoy explained how HR has changed over the years from paper-based records to Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), and now AI tools. In her session Ms.Vidya informed that HR is no longer just an administrative function but, a strategic partner that helps the organisation grow through data analysis, decision-making and workforce planning.

She spoke about how AI is used in hiring, resume screening, job descriptions, performance management, training, payroll, compensation, engagement and employee retention. It was also infirmed thouugh AI can make work faster, human judgment is still needed to assess talent, track employee performance and handle workplace concerns. The speaker also stressed data privacy, compliance and accuracy.

The masterclass gave students a clear view of the opportunities, challenges and ethical issues of using AI in HR. It also showed that technical knowledge must go hand in hand with human skills to succeed in the workplace.
