The Nitte Institute of Architecture inaugurated the Student Council for 2025-26 on 19th September 2025 in a ceremony that celebrated leadership and student representation. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Moodithaya, Director of NIA, Prof. Vinod Aranha and Council members, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge.
The highlight of the program was the Badge Presentation, where council members were officially vested with their responsibilities, followed by inspiring addresses from the Vice Chancellor and the Director. In highlighting responsibility, teamwork and service, the event marked a meaningful beginning to the Council’s journey.
The Nitte Institute of Architecture observed Suicide Prevention Awareness Day on 10th September 2025 with a competition themed “Creating Hope Through Acts of Kindness.” Organized by the NIA Sports Club, the event aimed to spread positivity and raise awareness about mental health creatively and engagingly.
Students participated by performing anonymous acts of kindness using colored sticky notes to share encouraging messages with peers and faculty. These thoughtful gestures were documented through photos & videos, later verified by house captains and faculty moderators to ensure positivity, creativity and consent. The initiative created a wave of optimism on campus, strengthening bonds within the NIA community and highlighting the role of empathy in everyday life.
Nitte Institute of Architecture came alive with colors, rhythms and festivities during “Onara 2025 - Waves of Onam,” organized by the 4th year students on 6th September 2025. The celebration opened with the dynamic beats of the Chende, followed by a series of cultural events that reflected the traditions of Kerala. Highlights included the Pookalam competition, vibrant dance and music performances, the traditional Onam Sadhya served on banana leaves and lively games such as Tug of War and Uriyadi. The day concluded with music, dance and collective joy, making Onara 2025 a memorable celebration of culture, unity and creativity for the NIA community.
Nitte Institute of Architecture marked Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2025 with a heartfelt celebration dedicated to recognizing the dedication, guidance and support of its faculty. The program began with a welcome speech that emphasized the invaluable role teachers play in shaping both academic success and personal growth. Students then presented a specially curated video filled with messages and wishes, which was warmly received by the faculty. The celebration continued with a ceremonial cake-cutting, followed by the distribution of roses and handmade notes as tokens of gratitude from students to their mentors. These gestures added a personal and emotional touch, strengthening the sense of respect and connection between students and teachers.
As part of its annual sports activities, Nitte Institute of Architecture hosted the Inter-House Badminton Competition at the Quadrangle on 29th & 30th August 2025. The event brought together 34 participants, including both students and faculty. Matches were conducted across five categories -Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, ensuring wide participation and healthy inter-house rivalry. Over the course of two days, the competition witnessed intense rallies, remarkable displays of teamwork and an engaging spirit of sportsmanship. The winning house was awarded a Trophy, while medals and certificates will be distributed on Sports Day. More than just a tournament, the event created an opportunity for the NIA community to celebrate fitness, camaraderie and collective spirit, concluding with a group photograph and resounding applause.
The farewell event began with a lively musical performance, creating a festive welcome as juniors greeted the outgoing batch. Seniors were warmly received amidst cheers and applause, setting an emotional tone. A delicious lunch allowed for relaxed interaction among students and faculty. Post-lunch, the program featured speeches, games, performances and a nostalgic video montage. Faculty shared their blessings and mementos were gifted to the graduates. The event beautifully celebrated the seniors’ journey, leaving behind heartfelt memories and a strengthened NIA bond.
The post-farewell evening lit up with the lively ‘Grill & Thrill’ BBQ at the NIA Quadrangle. Students gathered for an informal night of food, music and fun. The air was filled with laughter, games and shared moments, offering a relaxed contrast to the emotional farewell earlier that day. The event ended with group photos and warm goodbyes, perfectly wrapping up the celebrations. ‘Grill & Thrill’ gave students a much-needed moment to unwind, strengthening bonds and creating memories to cherish.
The Annual Sports Day of Nitte Institute of Architecture was held at the Nitte Grounds with enthusiasm and excitement. Students and teachers gathered to witness a day full of energy, competition and celebration. The event began with a colorful march past, followed by the lighting of the sports torch. Various athletic competitions such as relays, long jump, shotput and fun games were held, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of the participants. Cheerful applause echoed through the grounds as winners were awarded medals and certificates. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking a memorable and inspiring day for all.
The evening opened with a soulful live performance by the budding band "THE SHOR," setting a vibrant and relaxing tone. Graduates arrived after the Convocation with family and friends and were warmly greeted with flowers. The auditorium buzzed with soft music and heartfelt conversations in a cozy setting.
Director Prof. Ar. Vinod Aranha spoke on the importance of this special event, designed to create lasting memories. Associate Prof. Ar. Arul Paul shared warm wishes and reflections, while Asst. Prof. Anil Devadiga welcomed the graduates into the NIA Alumni community, highlighting the Nitte Alumni Portal as a vital networking platform.
The evening continued with music, dancing, and plenty of photo moments, ending on a high note with a joyful dinner,leaving everyone with smiles and lasting memories.
The celebration began with a lantern-making competition led by faculty member Alok, drawing enthusiastic participation from NIA students and others. A welcome speech introduced the theme of cultural diversity and the evening’s judges, setting the tone for the festivities.
Each house showcased its identity through creative introductions, followed by a spirited Garba and Dandiya competition judged on coordination, energy and presentation. Vibrant costumes and rhythmic performances captivated the audience.
Fun games added to the excitement and winners were announced across categories like Best House, Best Dancer, Best Costume and Game Winners. Trophies and Certificates recognized their efforts.
