Annual Sports day 2024-25

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy conducted the Annual Sports Day on 15th February 2025 at the Nitte Grounds. The event began at 9:15 am. On the dais were the Chief Guest, Mr. Rajendra DS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada; our Guest Of Honour, Dr. Murali Krishna V; Physical Education Director, Dr. Karunakar Shetty; Our Principal, Prof. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U; Sports Chairperson, Ms. Nishitha Elsy Fernandes and then the Sports Secretaries, Mr. Asa V Thomas and Ms. Kesiya Susan Shibu.

The event came to a start with the March past that was led by the Band of St. Joseph Joyland School, Mangalore. Then, the Chief Guest received the Guard of Honour and declared the meet open followed by the flag hoisting. The Invocation was sung by Ms. Shubhada Prakash. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U, welcoming everyone present on the dias and off the dias. Then, the Lamp Lighting ceremony was held to mark the beginning of the meet. Torch relay symbolizing the unity, peace and spirit of sports was started by Mr. Sherwin Darrell D’Souza followed by the second runner, Mr. Mohammed Shihabudeen followed by the third runner, Ms. Manvi Poojari. Then the torch was handed over to Our Chief guest, Mr. Rajendra D S and then the torch was passed on to last runner, Mr. Nevil Alexander. After the torch relay, Oath taking was taken by Mr. Asa V Thomas representing all the participants for a fair game abiding the rules. Following which our Master of the Ceremony, Ms. Sameena Manna invited our Chief Guest for the addressing of the students. Mr. Rajendra D S delivered an insightful and inspiring address, which set tone for the event and shared valuable wisdom with the students. Then, we had the announcement of the March past winner: first was banged by the team Rajputs; second by Vikrams and third by Aryans. Next, we had the Guest of Honour address by Dr. Murali Krishna, motivating the students for the participation of the events and to bring the inner sports out. Then, the Vote of Thanks was done by Ms. Nishitha Elsy Fernandes, thanking all the guest, students and the St. Joseph Joyland School Band. After the formal function, breakfast was served followed by the events one by one. To conduct the evens, 4 referees were present conducting each event simultaneously one after the other. After all the Athletic Events, a friendly match of Cricket was played with two teams. Followed by which, there was winner announcement and prize giveaway.

In conclusion, the Annual Sports Day, 2024- 25 conducted was a resounding success marked by outstanding performances, fierce competition and a strong sense of camaraderie among the students. The event not only provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents but also fostered the spirit and unity. The entire event was brought together by Ms. Nishitha Elsy Fernandes, the sports chairperson and coordinated by Mr. Asa V Thomas and Ms. Kesiya Susan Shibu, the sports secretaries, where the work was evenly segregated amongst themselves.
