Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacognosy, organized a one-day Guest talk on “Herbal Product Design and Development – An Industrial Perspective” on 28th June 2025 at the NSOM Seminar Hall, Nitte Campus, Bangalore. The event was designed to provide students and faculty with comprehensive insights into the processes involved in the development of herbal products, particularly from an industrial standpoint. Key focus areas included formulation approaches, standardization techniques, regulatory guidelines, and quality control parameters essential for the commercialization of herbal medicines.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Neeraj Kumar Patel, Chief Scientific Officer at Bombay Hemp Company. Dr. Patel engaged the students with an enlightening session covering diverse topics such as herbal drugs and phytochemistry, the differentiation between natural and organic products, and the innovative “Trishul Test” used to evaluate herbal product efficacy. He also outlined the various phases of herbal product design, development, and validation, drawing from real-time industrial examples and case studies. the guest talk proved to be an enriching experience, equipping students with valuable industrial insights into herbal product development.
