Key USPs of NCOPS

NCOPS houses a well-equipped pilot-scale plant that bridges formulation research with industrial-scale production.

  • Equipped with modern and advanced equipment such as an Automated Tablet Compression Machine, Fluidized Bed Dryer, High-Speed Homogenizer and the Shakti Multi-Drive System with attachments like a Planetary Mixer, Double Cone Blender, Colloid Mill and Liquid Filling Machine. These facilities provide students with experiential learning opportunities in pharmaceutical manufacturing and formulation.
  • Furthermore, it provides analytical training using sophisticated instruments such as HPLC, UV Spectrophotometer, Lami Viscometer, USP Dissolution Apparatus and Stability Chambers. This exposure enables students to develop analytical expertise in line with pharmaceutical industry requirements.

NCOPS has established a Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals approved animal house facility, enabling extensive preclinical studies such as in vivo and ex vivo experiments. The facility is supported by advanced equipment, including ELISA readers, passive avoidance apparatus, high-speed ultracentrifuges, automated biochemical analyzers, auto analyzers, spectrophotometers, data acquisition systems, behavior analyzers and incubators.

All instruments are calibrated, enabling Good Laboratory Practice standards compliant in vivo and ex vivo research. These facilities collectively support rigorous research, credible and reproducible outcomes and provide comprehensive training for students.

The Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) serves as a center for advanced research, skill development and interdisciplinary collaboration. Equipped with advanced research facilities such as spectrofluorometer, dissolved oxygen meter, probe sonicator, luminometer and nanoparticle formulation systems, it enables high impact research in the field of drug discovery and delivery. CIF promotes hands-on training for students and faculty, supports joint research proposals and facilitates cutting-edge studies in nanotechnology, environmental science and biotechnology.

The herbal garden with over 80 medicinal plant species provides students with hands-on learning in plant identification and crude drug study, bridging theory with practical outcomes. It enriches practical skills and fosters awareness of medicinal plant conservation.

The pharmacy museum provides a walk-through experience with detailed pictorial displays, educational models and patient information leaflets. These resources help students visually understand the history and evolution of pharmacy, important pharmaceutical regulations and patient care practices. It also exhibits various dosage formulations, cosmetics, medical devices, crude drugs and specimens, offering students a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical science and its practical applications.

NCOPS has an active Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), recognized with a prestigious 3-Star Rating by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India. The IIC at NCOPS plays a vital role in promoting a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the campus. Through workshops, hackathons and expert mentorship, students turn ideas into real solutions. Our students competed in various prestigious platforms and received the awards at Manipal Hackathon, KRUPACON, RIPER Innovation expo and MSME Hackathon.

Among the two outgoing batches of B.Pharm, Significant Number (4) of our students have qualified in the GPAT examination with All India ranks. NCOPS Provides Special training, including classes and mock tests, from the very beginning of the B.Pharm course to help students achieve this success. The institute has also collaborated with reputed GPAT training centers such as GDC and Pharma Sapience to further strengthen student preparation.

Students gained the opportunity to learn and explore various real-world problems through exposureship and internships at different companies and hospitals. B.Pharm students are sent to industries in the 3rd year, helping them connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
