Observation of Geneva Convention Day

The Youth Red Cross of Nitte (Deemed to be University), in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, DK observed Geneva Convention Day on 12th August 2026 at Avishkar Hall, ABSMIDS to create an awareness among students about the importance of upholding human rights, respecting international humanitarian law during armed conflicts and fostering empathy and compassion towards humanity.

Delivering the keynote address, Guest of Honour Col. A.K. Jayachandran provided insightful perspectives on the origins and significance of the Geneva Conventions. Chief Guest Sri C.A. Shantharam Shetty highlighted the life-saving importance of voluntary blood donation and its contribution to humanitarian service. Prof. (Dr) M.S. Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU emphasized the role of such observances in nurturing socially responsible and compassionate students. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Santanu Saha, Nodal Officer, Youth Red Cross Unit, Nitte (DU).
