Dr. S R Badrinarayan, Professor, Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management was the resource person.

The FDP provided hands-on training on measurement principles and advanced scale construction for faculty members, doctoral scholars and early-career researchers in social sciences, business management and commerce. The sessions, covered foundational concepts like latent variables, measurement assumptions, reliability, validity and a practical eight-step scale development workflow with psychometric analysis using tools like SPSS and JAMOVI. The program also introduced advanced topics such as index design and Item Response Theory (IRT). Its key objectives were to help participants understand what constitutes a good measurement scale, translate ideas into measurable constructs, write and review questionnaire items, conduct basic quality checks and optimize scales without losing essential content. Participants also learned when and how to use combined indices and how to justify measurement decisions confidently in research proposals. Overall, the program emphasized rigor, transparency, reproducibility and clarity in measurement practices within social science and business research.
