Workshop on Machine Learning for Biomedical Researchers
Sep 1, 2025
A three-day hands-on workshop on “Machine Learning for Biomedical Researchers” was jointly organized by Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER) and Nitte Institute for Professional Education from 1st to 3rd September 2025 at NUCSER.
The workshop was inaugurated by Chief guest Prof. (Dr) Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte(DU). Prof. (Dr) Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor, Principal, NIPE was the Guest of Honour and Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER presided over the function.
Dr. Rama Adiga, Asst. Professor, Dept of Molecular Genetics & Cancer, NUCSER welcomed the gathering. Dr. Harsha rendered an impressive speech on machine learning, transforming and unlocking new possibilities in intelligence and decision-making, especially in the area of neurophysiology. Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate in organizing the workshop in the important field of Biomedical Research.
Dr. Anirban emphasized that advancements in technology are not only accelerating research but are also pushing boundaries that were once considered impossible. He mentioned that in future, more such workshops may prove to be a testament to the power of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving such progress. About 25 students from in and around Mangalore participated in the workshop. The main focus of the workshop was to give an insight into newer technologies like machine learning, especially Python programming, emerging in the field of Biomedical research areas. The modules covered an in-depth understanding of its applications and practical skills to develop machine learning projects.
Dr Rama Adiga and Mr Praveen N from NUCSER and NIPE, respectively, coordinated the 3-day hands-on workshop.
