PROGRAM OUTCOMES At the end of the program, graduates will be able to... PO1: Demonstrate
knowledge of anatomy, physiology, endocrinology and pathophysiology of the
reproductive system during puberty, reproductive age group & menopause; including the physiological changes during pregnancy, labour & puerperium PO2: Provide
quality care to the community in diagnosis and management of antenatal, intranatal and postnatal period of normal and abnormal pregnancy and labour and
also effectively manage all obstetric and gynaecological emergencies. PO3: Impart
appropriate pre conceptional counselling, antenatal & post natal care; PO4: Give
adequate pre procedure information before taking a written valid consent &
give appropriate post operative advice PO4: Outline
the national health programmes related to obstetrics and gynaecology and summarize
the acts and laws related to the speciality, especially the MTP act and PCPNDT act. PO5: Demonstrate
knowledge on RTI & HIV infection in women and provide advice on management of
these infections in both obstetrics & gynaecological conditions and also
plan and implement preventive strategies. PO6: Describe the
principles of pathogenesis & management of benign & malignant genital
and breast tumours; counsel patients regarding the importance of screening
methods & preventive strategies for gynaecological malignancies & refer
appropriately when needed. PO7: Recognize
the health needs of adolescent girls, post menopausal woman and geriatric age
group and their rights related to reproductive function, sexuality,
contraception and safe abortion. PO8: Demonstrate
skill in educating medical, paramedical and nonmedical persons, function as a
part of team, develop communication skills, adopt ethical principles and
maintain proper etiquette while communicating with patients , relatives and
other health personnels and proper documentation of the communication and relevant information
pertaining to every case PO9: Acquire competency
required to practice in the community and at all levels of health system, that
is, management of low and high risk pregnancy, labour and puerperium,
management of gynaecological conditions including paediatric, adolescent and
geriatric conditions; understand the principles of drug prescription in
obstetrics & gynaecology; perform basic gynaecological and obstetrics ultrasonography including
doppler. PO10: Demonstrate
elementary knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and care, anesthesiology, vital
statistics and genetics related to the
subject. PO11: Describe the
principles of various methods of contraception (including sterilisation) and
Medical Termination of Pregnancy and appropriately advice a couple seeking
contraception / MTP PO12: Demonstrate
knowledge of comprehensive evaluation and management of an infertile couple,
including assisted reproductive techniques. PO13: Plan research projects after understanding the principles and ethics of data
collection, storage, retrieval and analysis demonstrate skills to
critically appraise scientific data; Understand quality improvement and
management, including usage of clinical audit cycles, applying standard
guidelines and protocol. PO14: Perform or
assist common procedures in obstetrics & gynaecology, major and minor surgeries including OPD and LT procedures and endoscopic surgeries. PO15: Recognize
and address the medico legal aspects and ethical issues encountered in the practice of obstetrics and gynaecology. |
