PROGRAM OUTCOMES

At the end of the program, graduates will be able to...


PO1 : Demonstrate an understanding of basic sciences as relevant to conservative/restorative dentistry and      Endodontics.  

PO2 : Perform a physical and oral examination of the patient, identify normal and abnormal functioning of various systems of the body, take proper chair side history, examine the patient and perform medical and dental diagnostic  procedures; as well as perform relevant tests and interpret them to come to a reasonable diagnosis about the dental condition.  

PO3 : Diagnose and recognize conditions that may require multidisciplinary approach or a clinical situation outside the realm of the specialty, which he or she should be able to recognize and refer to an appropriate specialist. 

PO4 : Perform infection control measures in the dental clinical environment and laboratories.

PO5 : Adopt ethical principles in all aspects of restorative and contemporary Endodontics including non-surgical and surgical Endodontics. 

PO6 : Perform all levels of restorative work including Aesthetic procedures and treatment of complicated restorative procedures. 

PO7 : Describe and manage etiology, pathophysiology, periapical diagnosis and management of common endodontic situations that will include contemporary management of trauma and pulpal pathosis including endodontic-periodontic considerations. 

PO8 : Diagnose, plan and execute challenging clinical cases requiring comprehensive management strategies using contemporary materials and techniques in the specialty of conservative dentistry and endodontics. 

PO9 : Demonstrate communication skills in particular to explain various options available management and to obtain a true informed consent from the patient. 

PO10: Apply moral and ethical standards while carrying on human or animal research.

CO 1: Demonstrate the understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the oral and peri-oral tissues with particular emphasis on endodontic related tissues(K, C) [MA]

CO 2: Demonstrate the understanding of the aetiology, pathobiology and clinical presentation of diseases of the oral and peri-oral tissues(K, C) [MA]

CO 3: Demonstrate the understanding of the impact of systemic diseases on oral tissues and of oral disease on systemic health(K, C) [MA]

CO 4: Demonstrate the understanding of biomaterial science relevant to endodontics(K, C) [MA]

CO 5: Show professional judgment to implement clinical solutions in response to problems by developing an evidence-based treatment plan and taking a holistic approach to solving problems and designing treatment plans(A, K) [MA]

CO 6: Perform all appropriate clinical examinations proficiently, collecting biological, psychological and social information needed to evaluate the oral and related medical conditions for all patients(S, K) [MA]

CO 7: Recognise and manage behavioural and related social factors which affect oral health(K, C) [MA]

CO 8: Demonstrate clinical proficiency in the delivery of preventive and interventional care as part of a holistic, comprehensive treatment plan(S, A, K) [MA]

CO 10: Identify the main causes that caused the actual shift in the concepts and record the essentials to allow conservative approach(K) [MA]

CO 11: Use the advanced diagnostic tools and the minimal and non-invasive surgical tools required to apply the conservative and biological model of treatment(S, K) [MA]

CO 12: Solve some esthetic problems and plan for esthetic cavity design using different restorative materials and techniques(S, K) [MA]

CO 13: Demonstrate the understanding of the behavioural, clinical and technical procedures involved in the treatment of patients requiring endodontic care(K, S, A) [MA]

CO 14: Demonstrate a broad and sound understanding of the evidence base in Endodontics(K) [MA]

CO 15: Evaluate critically the scope and limitations of the various techniques used in Endodontics balancing the risks and cost benefits of treatment demonstrating self-direction and autonomy(K, A) [MA]

CO 16: Apply the technical skills in endodontics based on radicular anatomy of teeth n clinical cases diagnosed with vital and nonvital pulpal diseases.(S, K) [MA]

CO 17: By the end of the course, students will be able to write a prescription for managing pain and infections(K) [MA]

CO 18: Demonstrate the understanding of general and clinical epidemiology of oral diseases(K) [MA]

CO 19: Show evidence of the ability to assess research(K, C) [MA]

CO 20: Demonstrate the ability to critically assess scientific papers and available evidence such as guidelines using a variety of information sources(K) [MA]

CO 21: Appraise systematically current evidence in Endodontics and appreciate how research activity can inform practice(K) [MA]
