Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan

Following the recent demonetization by the Government of India, NSS volunteers of NITTE launched a campaign to popularise Digital Modes of Payment to move towards the goal of cashless society.  NITTE initiated a “Cashless Munnur Village” campaign in association with Syndicate Bank, a leading public sector Bank and the Munnur Village Panchayath. The villagers were educated in the use of ATMs, mobile banking and payment wallets. The awareness program was aimed at bringing every family in the village under banking and also to imbibe cashless banking channels amongst the villagers.

The NSS volunteers along with students from the Nitte School of Banking and local Panchayath members conducted a door to door campaign explaining the digital facilities available and demonstrating the use of simple channels like NUUP, which do not require internet and smart phone.

In order to sensitize the faculty, students & locals to digital banking, training sessions are regularly conducted by NITTE in association with the NSS Unit. Efforts are made to educate the common people in cashless transactions emphasizing that digitalized banking is the need of the hour.
